Predator

My first Predator rough. I would like to paint this piece some day when I can afford the luxury of time. I based this drawing on a comic book by Chris Warner & the new AVP designs.

The New Frontier

Martian Man Hunter it's always a fun character to work with, specially with that unusual look Darwyn gave him.
Probably one of the best things I have ever worked for. I was fortunate enough to do some character design freelance for it.
I got to work on Hal Jordan and the Martian Man Hunter between many others.
Here is a still related to one of the characters I worked with.
Justice League The New Frontier was released on DVD February 26 2008.
I'm proud of you Darwyn.

Louisiana Blues

For my friend Nancy Kruse, a Simpsons director, as a B.Day present. Based on the Juanjo Guarnido style. I don't understand why someone got angry at me for combining Juanjo's designs to come up with a new one.

Classic Catwoman and Gotham Knights

Again, another two cell set ups I made for WB, and never got a copy as promised. I believe Dave Mc. Bride was responsible for the color. The best part is I saw em' at the Comicon in San Diego for $ 1000 USD each signed by my old boss Bruce Timm.

Earth's Mightest Heroes

From back in the day, one of my many cell set ups. I only did the pencils and inks, somebody else colored. Warner Brothers promised me a free copy since I made it, but I never got one, and of course it was sold out in no time and currently out of print and very expensive. I based this one on a Bruce Timm sketch.

Batman Beyond DVD Cover

Here is one of the many Batman Beyond DVD covers I made for WB

The Vampire Erzsebet

Here is the original version of Erzsebet for Hellboy Animated: Sword of Storms.
I don't know why they replace this design on the last minute. I think this one was a much better choice.

Priest as Werewolf

This version was my first rough. I was trying to capture that Mignola look and make it more like the Wolves of Saint August.
I heard a rumor that Mike Mignola has a problem when other people imitates his style. Maybe that's why they didn't go for my version.

Werewolf design for Hellboy: Sword of Storms.
I've never seen a werewolf with long hair, it kind of reminds me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
I actually cleaned this one up, Tad Stones penciled it.

Darth Yoku

I made this one as a tribute to the Star Wars Celebration 30th Anniversary.
The creature's head was based on a Mitch Byrd sketch, and Darth Yoku was based on a Yoda photo from Episode III.
I always wanted to make up my own Bad Ass Sith Lords Gallery.

Spidey

I guess it feels proper to post some Spidey images now that Spiderman 3 it's out.
From the same sketchbook, practicing my Romita Jr. style. The only thing I had at the moment to ink with was that brush-pen Sakura. It was kind of fun exploring with the brush.

Oh...Gwen

This one is from an old sketchbook back in 1996 at an Amsterdam coffe shop.

300

In the Battle of Thermopylae of 480 BC, an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae in central Greece. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history.
The subsequent Greek victory in the Battle of Salamis left much of the Persian navy destroyed. Xerxes was forced to flee to Asia and left his army in Greece under Mardonius, who was to meet the Greeks in battle for one last time. The Spartans and other Greek allies assembled at full strength and decisively defeated the Persians in the Battle of Plataea, putting an end to the Greco-Persian War.
The performance of the defenders at the battle of Thermopylae is often used as an example of the advantages of training, equipment and good use of terrain to maximize an army's potential, as well as a symbol of courage against overwhelming odds. The heroic sacrifice of the Spartans and the Thespians has captured the minds of many throughout the ages and has given birth to many cultural references as a result.

King Leonidas

Tonight...we dine..in Hell...

Hela

Hela, The Topless Asgardian goddess of Death. Hela was born in Jotunheim, the land of the giants. According to legend she was the child of the trickster Loki and the giantess Angrboda. When she came of age, Odin appointed her as the Goddess of Death, giving her rulership over the dead in the realms of Hel and Niffleheim.

JLU

Top. Martian Man Hunter sketch for Paul Wee.
Middle. I was asked to do this poster by the producers of the show but they never did anything with it. So I decided to finish the job and color it myself.
Bottom. Robot Mummy from the JLU episode Ancient History. The Hawkman and Shadow Thief (from "Shadow of the Hawk") return and the secret behind both their existences is finally revealed.

Jeans Babes

From my many sexy girly tight jeans artwork. There was a time where I had so much fun drawing sexy girly jeans art.

Jeans Angels

I guess it's no secret by now, yes I like sexy girls in tight jeans...well, who doesn't. From Sorayama to frank Cho as inspiration, I even became a photographer for a website featuring sexy models wearing skin tight jeans. It was a great learning experience and not only as a photographer, the site's name was Jeans Angels. It does no longer exists.

Rose and Isabel

I made this one for my buddy Ted.
Check out my friend Ted Mathot's books Rose and Isabel.
Good stuff, I'm very happy for ya.

Dragon Raptor

One of my many creations...I was just wondering what would happen if you mix a velociraptor and a dragon...

TMNT

Here is one my development pieces for the 2004 TV show.

Monkey Man and O'Brian...

Well... I guess she's into monkeys and after all Hellboy it's kinda monkey like. Poor Monkey Man. The characters are from a comic book named Monkeyman and O'Brian, originally drawn by Art Adams. Of course everyone knows who Hellboy is by now.

Magnattack

Magnattack from the Official Handbook of the Invincible #2 - K-W - Kursk to Winslow. Released by Image on January 1, 2007I made this one for my pal Dusty Abell. Anything you've ever wanted to know about the characters in INVINCIBLE but were afraid to ask. Power levels, hometowns, relatives, origins, shoe sizes... it's all here. Written in the tradition of that other famous handbook and featuring drawings from some of the top talents in comics and animation. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY INVINCIBLE FAN!

Brom Style

More Brom meets Bruce Timm cartoony experiments.

Lobo

Inspired by one of those milk commercials.

Kirby Girl

Kirby meets Timm, Genesis Midnight Swanish girl (for those who understand)
Yeah...you know...Kirby...Jack Kirby! What? You don't know who Jack Kirby was...wow, you better get your comixology straight.

Big Cats

After watching a Tarzan film with Johnny Weissmuller and Disney's Tarzan, I got inspired and came up with this thumbnail.

Jim Jam

Me sa say stay in school. I think Jim Jam it's on of the best spoofs on Jar Jar Binks so far.

Hela and Hellboy vs. Lobo

You could say this was one hell of the day. From Hela to Hellboy fighting Lobo.

Hirunan

I created this one as an incidental Green Lantern Corps character for a Justice League episode. To my pleasant surprise WB used this sexy Green Lantern on other episodes also as an incidental character.

Green Lantern Corps

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my Power, Green Lantern's Light!"

The bottom piece it's from a Justice League episode named Kids Stuff, where Mordred turns the JL into kids. Here is the Green Lantern John Stuart as a kid.
